Winter-born Sakura

Through ice and flakes
Clouds and smoke,
She blossoms
That we may not find
The snow in the wind,
And the foggy paths
Lest we be frightened of
Winter.
She comes in glory now
and we can pretend it's
Spring.

In Japan, cherry blossoms or Sakura symbolizes the transient nature of life. When they bloom, they boast of their magnificent beauty... and all too soon, they fall. But there is a variety of sakura that blooms even in winter. And the gods say there shall be beauty even in winter.
